Born in 1978 in Suceava, Romania and currently living in Ireland, Mihai Cucu is an active photographer, video artist (various collaborations in Romania and Ireland), painter (icons) and film maker (short experimental films). He studied Art Restoration and Conservation at the “George Enescu” Art University in Iaşi. He worked in restoration (mural paintings and altarpieces) in various monasteries in Romania (1997-2002). He also studied ceramics, by the means of an Erasmus scholarship, in Cornwall, England. He had a residence in 2006 at the Hilltown Studio Theatre, Ireland. He has been living in Ireland for the past 10 years, painting, teaching and directing short movies. His works are purchased on Europe and U.S.

Mihai Cucu has participated in important international new arts festival, such as the International New Music Week (Bucharest, Romania, 2011, 2012), Music for Galway – Intimate Voices (Ireland, 2012) or InnerSound International New Arts Festival (Romania, 2012), Music Current 2017. He collaborates frequently with composers, sound artists and performers in Romania and Ireland.
